The veteran had sustained severe head injuries in a road accident on January 3. After being declared brain dead on Tuesday, his family agreed to donate his organs. A specialized retrieval team from the Army Hospital Research and Referral (R&R) in Delhi immediately sprang into action. Their journey to Lucknow was hampered by dense fog, causing delays, but they persevered, departing at 9:30 PM on Tuesday and reaching their destination by 11 PM.
Through the night, medical teams worked meticulously. By the early hours of Wednesday, they had successfully retrieved two kidneys, a liver, and a pair of corneas from the donor. The entire procedure was a testament to precision and dedication.
