The West Bengal Clinical Establishment Regulatory Commission has taken decisive action against a private hospital located in Barrackpore, imposing a temporary ban on admitting new patients. According to a formal complaint filed by Soumik Majumder, his wife was admitted to the hospital from February 4 to February 11. During her hospitalization, two blood samples were collected on February 8 and February 9. Majumder alleges that the test reports were not provided until 10 days after his wife's discharge. Furthermore, the reports inaccurately stated that the blood samples were drawn on February 20 and February 21, raising serious concerns about record-keeping and procedural lapses at the facility.
Commission Initiates Inspection Committee
In response to the complaint, Justice (retd) Asim Kumar Banerjee, chairman of the health panel, announced that the commission has directed the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) to form a specialized committee. This committee will conduct a comprehensive inspection of the hospital to assess compliance with clinical standards and investigate the alleged irregularities. The probe aims to determine the causes behind the delayed and erroneous test reports, ensuring accountability and preventing future occurrences.
