UP Government Greenlights Major Upgrades for Lucknow Cancer Institute

In a significant move to enhance cancer treatment infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Secretary SP Goyal presided over the governing body meeting of the Kalyan Singh Ati Vishisht Cancer Sansthan in Lucknow. The session focused on comprehensive development plans and the expansion of cutting-edge medical facilities at the institute.

Approval of Quaternary Cancer Care Center

The committee gave its official nod for the establishment of a quaternary cancer care center, a specialized facility dedicated to handling the most complex and advanced cases of cancer. This center is designed to provide highly specialized treatments that are not typically available at standard cancer hospitals, marking a pivotal step in elevating the state's healthcare capabilities.

Enhancement of Diagnostic Services

In a bid to improve diagnostic accuracy and accessibility, the meeting approved the implementation of tele-radiology services within the radiodiagnosis department. This initiative will facilitate remote interpretation of medical images, enabling patients to benefit from advanced diagnostic tools such as MRI, CT scans, X-rays, and digital mammography without the need for physical travel to specialized centers.

Expansion of Medical Staff

To support the increased operational scope and patient load, the governing body sanctioned the creation of 31 additional faculty positions across various departments. Furthermore, 78 new positions for senior and junior residents were approved, ensuring that the institute has adequate medical personnel to deliver high-quality care and training.

These decisions underscore the Uttar Pradesh government's commitment to bolstering cancer care infrastructure and addressing the growing healthcare needs of the population. The approvals are expected to significantly reduce treatment delays and improve outcomes for cancer patients in the region.
