Madurai Corporation Unveils Innovative 'Hospital on Wheels' Initiative
In a significant move to enhance public health accessibility, the Madurai Corporation is set to launch its groundbreaking "Hospital on Wheels" program in the coming week. This mobile medical unit is specifically designed to provide comprehensive healthcare services to residents who face challenges in traveling to hospitals or primary health care centers (PHCs).
Advanced Medical Capabilities on Wheels
The newly acquired medical mobile unit represents a major upgrade in municipal healthcare infrastructure. It has been equipped with state-of-the-art medical tools, sophisticated laboratory equipment, a stretcher for patient transport, and a reliable generator to ensure uninterrupted operation. This configuration enables the unit to deliver on-the-spot treatment to patients in need.
Dr. Abhishek, an assistant city health officer with the corporation, emphasized the unit's comprehensive nature: "The aim of the mobile unit is to provide immediate and complete care to those in need. This facility functions as a mini hospital rather than merely an ambulance service."
