Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated that the health sector in Kerala has undergone significant changes over the past ten years. He emphasized that efforts will be made to resolve existing issues, and appropriate action will be taken against those responsible for any lapses. The CM made these remarks while inaugurating various development projects in the Nedumangad constituency.
Comprehensive Sectoral Progress Recognized
Vijayan noted that not only the health sector but all sectors in the state have experienced transformation. "We must recognize how far we have progressed from the state's earlier condition," he said, reflecting on the overall development. This statement underscores the broader improvements across Kerala's infrastructure and services.
Modernization of Government Hospitals
The Chief Minister highlighted that government hospitals have been transformed into centers capable of treating modern-day diseases. He pointed to the Covid-19 period as proof of this capability, where treatment was made accessible to all sections of society. Hospitals across various regions have become more people-friendly, enhancing healthcare delivery.
Kerala's Achievement in Reducing Neonatal Mortality
Kerala holds a proud position in reducing neonatal mortality rates, according to Vijayan. He claimed that the state has even surpassed the United States in this regard. "This is the achievement our state has made," he added, showcasing the success of public health initiatives.
Commitment to Addressing Issues
While celebrating these achievements, the CM assured that the government will continue to work on resolving any remaining issues in the health sector. This includes taking strict action against those found responsible for lapses, ensuring accountability and further improvements.
