The Andhra Pradesh state government on Friday released Rs 501 crore to private hospitals empanelled under the NTR Vaidya Seva Trust. This payment is part of the government's efforts to clear outstanding bills owed to healthcare facilities across the state.
Tri-Party Bill Discounting Mechanism
To address the remaining dues, the government has approved the disbursement of Rs 1,000 crore through the tri-party bill discounting agreement (TBDA) mechanism. Under this arrangement, agreements were executed among the Andhra Pradesh Power Finance Corporation, the NTR Vaidya Seva Trust, and the participating hospital managements.
Payment Distribution Details
According to Dr KVN Chakradhar Babu, in-charge CEO of the NTR Vaidya Seva Trust, a total of 278 hospitals have received payments amounting to Rs 501 crore so far. Out of 873 eligible hospitals, 531 applied to avail dues through the bill discounting mechanism. Scrutiny was completed for 336 applications, with further processing underway.
The CEO emphasised that the payments are being released in line with the government's commitment to clear pending dues. This initiative is expected to provide financial relief to hospitals and strengthen healthcare delivery across the state.
Impact on Healthcare System
The release of funds is a significant step towards stabilising the financial health of private hospitals participating in the NTR Vaidya Seva scheme. By clearing outstanding bills, the government aims to ensure uninterrupted medical services for beneficiaries. The TBDA mechanism will further streamline the payment process, reducing the burden on hospitals and improving cash flow.
Officials confirmed that the remaining applications are being processed expeditiously, and all eligible hospitals will receive their dues in a phased manner. This move underscores the government's commitment to supporting the healthcare sector and ensuring timely reimbursements under the flagship health scheme.
