A female junior resident doctor at AIIMS Bhubaneswar was discovered dead in her rented accommodation in the Dumduma area under Khandagiri police station limits late Tuesday night. According to police, her body was found hanging from a ceiling fan, raising suspicions of suicide.

The deceased, a native of Karnataka, shared the house with a friend. Police officials reported that she did not report for duty on Tuesday. When her roommate returned home in the evening and found the room locked, repeated calls to her phone went unanswered. The police were alerted, and after breaking open the door, officers discovered her hanging.

“We are trying to ascertain the circumstances that led to her death,” a police officer stated. Authorities are examining possible motives and gathering evidence, including statements from colleagues and friends.
