Patna: Marking the World Bicycle Day 2026, a special edition of 'Fit India Sunday on Cycle' was organised in Patna on Sunday, attracting over 1,000 participants from diverse sections of society. The event, held in collaboration with the Bihar government and other partner organisations, aimed to promote fitness, environmental sustainability, and a healthy lifestyle through cycling.
Mass Participation in the Cycling Rally
Cyclists, including athletes, youth volunteers, fitness enthusiasts, officials, personnel from armed and paramilitary forces, and members of civil society, participated enthusiastically in the rally. The 10-kilometre ride began at Income Tax Golambar, passed through Patna Zoo, and concluded at the starting point, creating a vibrant atmosphere of health and unity.
Chief Guest Highlights Benefits of Cycling
Patna Sahib MLA Ratnesh Kushwaha attended the event as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he emphasised the importance of integrating cycling into daily routines and urged citizens to dedicate at least one day every week to this activity. 'Cycling not only improves physical fitness but also plays a significant role in protecting the environment,' he said, encouraging everyone to adopt this eco-friendly mode of transport.
Regular Initiative for Health Awareness
Someswar Rao, centre in-charge of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Sports Training Centre (STC) in Patna, noted that the 'Sunday on Cycle' initiative is held regularly at different locations to encourage people to stay active. He added that the programme motivates individuals of all age groups to adopt healthier habits and contributes to the broader Fit India Movement.

The event concluded with a renewed commitment among participants and organisers to further promote fitness awareness and eco-friendly practices under the Fit India Movement.
