Indonesian royal house confers title on Gurdaspur youth
Kuwar Amritbir Singh, a 20-year-old fitness enthusiast and Guinness World Record holder from Umarwala village in Gurdaspur district, has been honoured with a royal title by an Indonesian royal house. The ceremony took place in Indonesia, where Singh received the title in traditional attire, as seen in visuals widely shared on social media.
Singh, a student of Khalsa College, Amritsar, first gained international recognition in July 2022 by setting a Guinness World Record for the most clap push-ups on fingertips in one minute.
Advocate of natural fitness
Known for promoting natural fitness, Singh has consistently spoken out against performance-enhancing supplements and expensive gym equipment. He trains using locally available materials such as bricks, sandbags, and cement-filled plastic bags, while following a traditional diet of ghee, butter, and milk.
His Instagram following has grown to over 2.3 lakh, where he offers diet and fitness consultations for a nominal fee of Rs 5. The proceeds are used to help underprivileged youth purchase sports equipment.
Campaign against drug abuse
Singh has leveraged his social media presence to campaign against drug abuse and encourage young people to adopt healthy lifestyles through physical fitness. According to Singh, his mission is to make fitness accessible to everyone, regardless of economic background.
