In a tragic incident in Phagwara, a 22-year-old man died by suicide after his mother refused to give him money to buy drugs. The incident took place on Wednesday evening when the youth, identified as Ravi Kumar, jumped from the third floor of a residential building in the Model Town area.
Details of the Incident
According to police, Ravi Kumar had been addicted to drugs for the past few years. He often demanded money from his mother to purchase narcotics. On the day of the incident, he asked his mother for money, but she refused, urging him to quit his habit. Enraged by her refusal, Ravi went to the rooftop of the building and jumped off. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Police Investigation
The police have registered a case under relevant sections and are investigating the matter. Preliminary inquiries suggest that the youth was under the influence of some substance at the time of the incident. His body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
