The Uttar Pradesh government has issued directives for the swift assessment of horticultural crops and orchards affected by adverse weather conditions, aiming to provide timely relief to farmers. Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Horticulture, Agricultural Marketing, Agricultural Foreign Trade and Agricultural Exports, Dinesh Pratap Singh, on Tuesday emphasized that necessary proposals regarding disaster relief management should be forwarded immediately through respective district officials, in accordance with government orders, to ensure affected farmers receive due compensation.
Meeting on Compensation Framework
Singh convened a meeting to discuss the provision of compensation under the disaster relief management framework for damage sustained by horticultural crops due to various adverse weather conditions. He instructed district horticulture officers to ensure timely and effective action in this regard.
Clarity on Rules and Financial Assistance
During the meeting, it was decided that in cases where rules regarding compensation are unclear, or where the prescribed financial assistance is deemed insufficient, proposals would be submitted to the Relief Commissioner to ensure appropriate action is taken. This step aims to enable the timely provision of relief to affected farmers.
Review of Development Schemes
While reviewing various horticultural development schemes implemented by the department, the minister called for their publicity and transparent implementation at the district level. This is intended to maximize benefits for eligible farmers and ensure that the schemes reach the intended beneficiaries effectively.
