Mapusa Court Orders NDPS Charges Against UP Man in Goa Drug Raid

Panaji: A Mapusa court has ordered the framing of charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against Priyanshu Sharma, a 22-year-old native of Uttar Pradesh, who was allegedly found in illegal possession of narcotic substances during a raid conducted in Pilerne in October 2022.

Details of the Raid

The anti-narcotics police carried out the raid between 2:30 am and 5:30 am at Namoshi, Guirim, and seized 20 grams of suspected ganja and 2 grams of suspected MDMA from Sharma’s possession. In addition, the police also seized the scooter that was allegedly used for transporting the contraband.

How the Police Received Information

According to the investigating officer, while returning to Panaji from Mapusa after patrolling duty at around 12:50 am, the police received reliable and specific information that the suspect would be delivering narcotic drugs to prospective customers between 2 am and 2:30 am, concealing them in a scooter. Based on the physical description of the suspect and the clothes he was wearing, a police raiding party was formed to nab him.

Search and Seizure

During the search, suspected ganja and suspected MDMA were allegedly found concealed in the dickey of the scooter. The report of the chemical analyst later confirmed the contraband to be ganja and methamphetamine.
