Kanpur authorities organized a crucial medical examination camp for vehicle drivers on Monday. This event took place at Sarathi Bhawan within the regional transport office premises.
Medical Findings from the Driver Screening
Doctors conducted thorough check-ups on a total of 593 drivers during the camp. The results revealed significant health concerns among many participants.
Specific Health Issues Identified
Medical professionals discovered that 75 drivers suffered from weak vision. This condition can severely impact driving safety, especially during night travel or in poor weather.
Furthermore, the examination showed 307 drivers had high blood pressure. Hypertension poses serious risks while operating vehicles, potentially leading to sudden health emergencies on the road.
Another 81 drivers received diabetes diagnoses during the screening. All affected individuals received free medicines immediately after their medical assessments.
Officials and Medical Team Present
RTO Enforcement Officer Rahul Srivastava attended the camp personally. Assistant Regional Transport Officers Kahkashan Khatoon and Akanksha Patel also participated in the event.
Medical staff from Ujala Hospital performed all the driver examinations. Their expertise ensured accurate health assessments for every participant.
Road Safety Month Initiatives
The transport division declared January as Road Safety Month with an ambitious goal. They aim to achieve zero fatalities throughout this period.
School Bus Safety Campaign
Enforcement officials launched a parallel campaign targeting school transportation. They visited multiple educational institutions to inspect their buses thoroughly.
Officers examined school vehicles for compliance with safety standards. They provided specific improvement instructions for buses that failed to meet regulatory requirements.
This comprehensive approach addresses both driver health and vehicle safety. Kanpur's transport authorities demonstrate their commitment to reducing road accidents through these coordinated efforts.
