In a major crackdown on narcotics, the Jhansi police on Monday destroyed 890 kilograms of banned drugs and contrabands with an estimated market value of Rs 5 crore. The substances were seized during various raids conducted over the past months.
Destruction Process
The destroyed items included a variety of illegal drugs and contraband materials. The disposal was carried out in an incinerator at the Medical Pollution Control Committee Centre located at Bijoli Growth Centre. The entire process was supervised by the district drug disposal committee, which was chaired by SSP Jhansi BBGTS Murthy. SP City Preeti Singh confirmed the details of the operation.
Details of Seizures
According to police officials, the contrabands were confiscated during a total of fourteen separate raids conducted in the past. The drugs and other banned substances had been stored as evidence until their disposal. The incineration ensures that these harmful materials are completely destroyed and cannot re-enter the market.
The police have reiterated their commitment to curbing the illegal drug trade and ensuring public safety. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region. Authorities have urged citizens to report any suspicious activities related to drug abuse or distribution.
The destruction of such a large quantity of drugs sends a strong message to drug peddlers and reinforces the zero-tolerance policy of the Jhansi police towards narcotics.
