Tragic Death of Two Brothers in Kannauj Village

A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Kannauj district on Thursday when two brothers lost their lives after drinking from a pesticide-contaminated disposable glass. The tragedy occurred in Sakri Khurd village under the Manimau outpost of Sadar Kotwali area.

Field Work Turns Fatal

Ravish Kumar Srivastava, a resident of Sakri Khurd village, worked on his potato field about two kilometers away near Lilapur village. On Thursday morning around 10 o'clock, he sprayed pesticide with his two sons to protect their potato crop from blight disease. His sons Satyam, aged 21, and Mayank, aged 19, assisted him with this agricultural task.

After completing the pesticide spraying, all three family members irrigated the field together. The father and sons worked diligently throughout the day to maintain their potato crop.

Evening Turns Deadly

Around 5 o'clock in the evening, Satyam and Mayank sent their father home while they remained in the field. The two brothers decided to drink alcohol together, but they faced an immediate problem. Mayank had forgotten to bring disposable glasses for their drinks.

Looking around the field, they spotted an empty disposable glass nearby. This particular glass had been used earlier in the day for filling pesticide into their spray machine. Without considering the potential danger, both brothers drank their beverage from this contaminated container.

Immediate Health Crisis

Shortly after consuming their drinks, both brothers began feeling unwell. They started walking toward their home, hoping to find medical assistance. After covering approximately 200 meters, Mayank collapsed unconscious in the field. He died on the spot before anyone could help him.

Satyam immediately called his father to report the emergency. By the time their father reached the field, Mayank had already passed away. The scene was devastating for the family.

Second Brother Succumbs

Family members rushed Satyam to the district hospital for medical treatment. Doctors examined him and recognized his critical condition. They referred him to Kanpur for more advanced medical care.

Unfortunately, Satyam could not survive the journey. He died on the way to Kanpur, leaving the family to mourn both brothers simultaneously.

Family's Anguish and Investigation

The brothers' father experienced unimaginable grief seeing the bodies of his two young sons together. Shivam, the deceased brothers' elder sibling, expressed his suspicion about the cause of death. He believes drinking beverages from the pesticide-contaminated glass caused the poisonous effect that killed both brothers.

Sadar Kotwali in-charge Jitendra Pratap Singh confirmed that authorities have sent both bodies for post-mortem examination. Preliminary investigation suggests that drinking from a glass previously used for pesticide caused the fatal poisoning. Police continue to investigate the matter thoroughly.

This tragic incident highlights the dangers of improper pesticide container disposal in agricultural areas. It serves as a sobering reminder about chemical safety practices during farming activities.
