Bihar Sends 20 More Children to Ahmedabad for Heart Treatment Under CM Scheme
Twenty additional children from Bihar have traveled to Ahmedabad for treatment of congenital heart diseases. State Health Minister Mangal Pandey announced this development on Monday. The children are part of the CM Child Heart Scheme.
Latest Batch Sent for Free Treatment
The 94th batch of children suffering from congenital heart disease has been dispatched to Shri Satya Sai Heart Hospital in Ahmedabad. This group includes children from Araria, Buxar, East Champaran, Gaya, Madhubani, Nalanda, Samastipur, Saran, Sheohar and Vaishali districts.
The state health department covers all travel expenses to and from Ahmedabad. This ensures families face no financial burden during the treatment process.
Growing Treatment Numbers Under the Scheme
Minister Pandey revealed that 2,665 children in Bihar have received treatment under the scheme so far. The program focuses specifically on addressing serious and congenital illnesses in children.
Recent successes include 14 children who underwent free device closure procedures on January 8 and 9. These non-surgical treatments took place at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Cardiology in Patna.
How the Scheme Operates
The CM Child Heart Scheme aims to identify children with congenital heart disease quickly. It provides free, appropriate treatment to relieve families of severe financial burdens.
Children are identified through health camps and screening programs across all districts. After detailed medical examinations, selected children receive referrals to specialized hospitals.

- IGIMS, Patna
- Jayprabha Medanta Hospital, Patna
- Shri Satya Sai Heart Hospital, Ahmedabad
All surgeries and treatments occur under expert supervision at no cost to families.
Year-by-Year Treatment Statistics
The scheme has shown consistent growth in treatment numbers:
- 338 successful surgeries and treatments in FY 2021-2022
- 410 successful surgeries and treatments in FY 2022-2023
- 556 successful surgeries and treatments in FY 2023-2024
- 764 successful surgeries and treatments in FY 2024-2025
In the current financial year, 597 surgeries and treatments have been completed as of January 9. The program continues to expand its reach across Bihar.
