A teacher and 13 students sustained injuries when a swarm of bees attacked them at a government high school in Komanampatti near Natham in Dindigul district on Friday. The incident unfolded as students were leaving the school premises after classes.
Details of the Incident
According to school authorities, a beehive attached to a window near a classroom was inadvertently disturbed, triggering the aggressive response from the bees. The sudden attack caused panic among students and staff.
Injuries and Medical Response
The injured teacher, identified as Shanthi, 53, along with 13 students, was immediately rushed to the Government Hospital in Natham for medical attention. One girl student, who suffered multiple bee stings, was later referred to the Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai for advanced treatment. Officials confirmed that the condition of the other victims was stable.
Safety Measures Taken
Following the incident, school officials visited the campus and initiated measures to remove the remaining bees and ensure the safety of the premises for students. The school has been advised to conduct regular inspections to prevent such occurrences in the future.
