Dr Vishnuvardhan Named New DME in Andhra Pradesh

The Andhra Pradesh government on Tuesday appointed Dr Attaluri Vishnuvardhan as the new director of medical education (DME). Dr Vishnuvardhan had been serving as the principal of Rangaraya Government Medical College in Kakinada. This appointment is part of a major administrative reshuffle within the medical and health department.

Administrative Reshuffle in Medical Education

In a significant move, the government has decided to post 15 professors, who were recently promoted as additional directors of medical education (ADMEs), as principals and superintendents in various government medical institutions across the state. The decision follows the government's approval of a series of appointments and postings involving senior medical professionals and recently promoted officials. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu approved the proposals submitted by the health department.

Key Appointments and Transfers

Dr Raghunandan, who had been discharging the responsibilities of DME as an additional charge for the past nine months while serving as an ADME, has been appointed as the Vijayawada Government General Hospital (GGH) superintendent after he decided to step down as the in-charge DME.

In another significant posting, Eluru GGH superintendent Dr M.S. Raju has been transferred and posted as the principal of Rajamahendravaram Government Medical College. Further, Dr K.V.V. Satyanarayana Murthy, working as a neurology professor at Guntur Government Medical College, has been promoted as an ADME.

Dr P. Ushakiran, currently working as a pharmacology professor at Rangaraya Medical College in Kakinada, has been promoted to ADME and has been further appointed as the principal of the same medical college. Subsequently, the government appointed Vizianagaram Government Medical College Pathology professor Dr Basumitra Das as the principal of Paderu Medical College.

Siddhartha Medical College Community Medicine professor Dr S. Govindu has been appointed as the principal of Piduguralla Medical College. In another appointment, Rangaraya Medical College Biochemistry Professor Dr S. Shivani has been appointed as the principal of Ongole Medical College.

Further, Andhra Medical College (AMC) General Surgery Head of Department (HoD) Professor Dr V. Manmadharao has been appointed as the director of Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS).
