Bollywood choreographer and director Farah Khan is experiencing a proud parental milestone as her triplets embark on their journey for higher education at elite universities in the United States. The filmmaker, who often shares glimpses of her family life, has revealed that her popular YouTube vlogs were initially a strategic move to finance this costly academic endeavour.
A Sweet Announcement and Prestigious Destinations
The news became public when Farah Khan shared an Instagram story featuring a thoughtful gift from a friend: a box of cupcakes, each meticulously decorated with the logo and name of the universities her children will attend. This was soon followed by official confirmation from DAIS Mumbai (Dhirubhai Ambani International School), which shared posts wishing her children well and detailing their future paths.
Divya Kunder, one of Farah's daughters, is set to join Babson College in Wellesley, USA. She will be specializing in the dynamic fields of entrepreneurship and finance. Her sister, Anya Kunder, has secured a place at the renowned New York University (NYU), where she will pursue a combined study of economics and data science. Their brother, Czar Kunder, is headed to Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, a leading private research institution. His academic focus will be on the cutting-edge intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Business.
The YouTube Channel Born from Necessity
Farah Khan has been candid about the financial motivation behind her foray into digital content creation. During an appearance on the show Two Much with Twinkle Khanna and Kajol, she explained her decision. She stated that even during periods when film projects were not materializing, she launched her YouTube channel as a proactive step.
"I have 3 kids who will go to university next year, and that's bloody expensive. So I just said for a change, let me start a show on YouTube, and that just clicked," Farah revealed. The channel, famous for its hilarious interactions with her cook Dilip, turned into an unexpected success, helping her build a fund for her children's overseas education.
A Journey to Motherhood: IVF and Overcoming Challenges
The story of Farah Khan's triplets is one of resilience and determination. The children were born in 2008 via in vitro fertilization (IVF), shortly after the release of her blockbuster film Om Shanti Om. In a recent conversation with friend Sania Mirza, Farah opened up about the intense physical and emotional challenges of her pregnancy.
Carrying triplets meant everything was amplified. "I would throw up constantly, and my body broke out in rashes... I could barely sleep, at any time, one of the babies was pressing on my bladder," she recounted. The emotional toll was equally heavy, especially after facing initial failures in the IVF process. "The first two times it didn't work, I just lay in bed crying for two days. I didn't even realise how badly I wanted to be a mother until it failed," Farah shared, reflecting on the experience at the age of 42.
Today, that profound desire for motherhood has blossomed into a new chapter as she watches her children, conceived against odds and educated through entrepreneurial spirit, step into world-class institutions to shape their futures.
