The latest episode of the popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 featured the continued journey of rollover contestants Vinita Kene and her husband Sunil Dharmale. The couple entered the hot seat carrying forward their previous win of Rs 50,000.
Big B's Take on Love vs. Arranged Marriage
Host Amitabh Bachchan warmly welcomed the couple and engaged in a conversation about their relationship. The megastar expressed admiration for Vinita and Sunil, highlighting that the most beautiful aspect of their union was that it was an arranged marriage. Bachchan humorously confessed his own lack of understanding of the concept, given his personal experience.
"Inki arranged marriage thi, humko toh samajh mein aata nahi, ye kya hota hai arrange marriage," said Bachchan. He elaborated by sharing his own love marriage story, "Humko joh pasand aaya humne usko jaake bol diya, 'dekhiye deviji humein aapse pyaar hai, toh shaadi karna hai'. Woh maan gaye toh chaliye, uthake le jaate hain mandap mein aur pura hojaata hai kaam. Humare saath aisa he hua."
The Game Resumes: A Missile Question and a Lifeline
After the light-hearted chat, Mr. Bachchan resumed the game. The question for Rs 1,00,000 was presented: The BrahMos missile, jointly developed by India and Russia, is named after which two rivers?
The contestants chose to use their '50-50' lifeline. From the remaining options, they correctly selected Option C) Brahmaputra-Moskva, securing the amount and moving ahead.
The Rs 2 Lakh Stumper and the Final Outcome
Facing the next question for Rs 2,00,000, the couple encountered a historical query: Which present-day Indian Union Territory had its colonial town divided into Ville Blanche (French Town) and Ville Noire (Indian Town)?
Uncertain of the answer, they used their 'Sanket Suchak' (Signal Indicator) lifeline. However, the signal did not provide a clear direction. Ultimately, Vinita decided to lock in Option A) Goa, which was incorrect. The right answer was Option B) Puducherry.
As per the game's rules, an incorrect answer after crossing the Rs 20,000 threshold meant the couple's prize money was reduced to the last guaranteed amount. Consequently, Vinita and Sunil's journey ended with a take-home sum of Rs 25,000.
Host Amitabh Bachchan expressed visible disappointment that the couple could not secure a higher winning amount, concluding their stint on the show on a bittersweet note.
