Mammootty and Mohanlal Reunite in Spy Thriller Patriot

The Malayalam spy action thriller 'Patriot' has brought together two of Malayalam cinema's biggest stars, Mohanlal and Mammootty, after many years. Released on May 1, the film has received mostly positive reviews, though it has also garnered mixed reactions from some viewers who disliked certain aspects.

Mammootty Addresses Mixed Reviews

At a recent event in Dubai, Mammootty responded to the mixed response. According to a report by Mid-day, he stated, 'We are living in an era where privacy is increasingly lost, and the film Patriot addresses this relevant subject.' He further elaborated on differing opinions, saying, 'There will be different views—good, bad, partly good, mostly good. Everyone is free to express their opinion as they feel. Some of you may have heard such opinions before coming here. Whatever it is, you will form your own view, and that is what matters. Films are made with the intention of being enjoyed by all.'

Box Office Performance

Despite the mixed reviews, 'Patriot' has performed strongly at the box office. The film earned Rs 9.8 crore on its opening day, followed by Rs 6.15 crore on the second day, bringing the two-day domestic total to Rs 16.15 crore, according to Sacnilk. Overseas, the film collected Rs 13.00 crore on day two, taking its total overseas gross to Rs 29.50 crore so far.
