Young Couple Dies by Suicide in Separate Incidents in Kadapa

Vijayawada: A young couple, both undergraduate students, died by suicide in separate incidents in Kadapa town under the limits of Chennur police station on Monday. The deceased were identified as Yogendra Kumar Varma, 19, a resident of Lakshminagar in Chennur mandal, and Hemashree, 19, a resident of Godina Street in Kadapa.

According to police, the two were reportedly close friends since childhood and were in a relationship for the past few years. Both were pursuing first-year degree courses at the same private college in Kadapa.

Police said the couple recently developed differences. On May 3, both attended a relative's wedding in Kadapa. Later, Yogendra went to his aunt's house near Mrityunjayakunta, while Hemashree returned to her home in Chennur. It is believed that an argument took place between them over the phone that night.

Distressed, Yogendra allegedly died by suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his relative's house when no one was present. Upon receiving the information, the Chinnachowk police registered a case based on a complaint filed by his family members and began an investigation.

Devastated after learning about Yogendra's death, Hemashree took the extreme step of hanging herself while she was alone at home on Monday.

While the Chinnachowk police already registered a case in connection with Yogendra Kumar's death, the Chennur police registered a separate case into the suicide of Hemashree on Monday, and further investigation is underway.
