A 30-year-old woman from Jodhpur was arrested on Thursday by the Mahesh Nagar police in Jaipur for allegedly honey trapping and blackmailing a businessman, extorting nearly Rs 90 lakh from him over several years. The police confirmed that she is currently being interrogated regarding the involvement of other individuals in the case.

Details of the Arrest

Mahesh Nagar SHO Suresh Yadav stated that the woman was taken into custody on Thursday morning after a preliminary investigation indicated her alleged role in a planned blackmailing racket. "More individuals could be linked to the case, and further investigation is underway," he added.

Background of the Case

According to police, the complainant, a 42-year-old businessman from Sanganer, lodged an FIR at Mahesh Nagar police station on April 29, 2025. In his complaint, he detailed that the accused first joined his company as a summer intern in 2017 and later became a regular employee. "During that period, she allegedly tried to establish contact with him through social media. The businessman alleged that when he did not respond to her advances, the woman became friendly with his wife and gradually gained access to the family. She later trapped him in a false romantic relationship and started demanding money on different pretexts," said Rajashri Raj Verma, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South).
