Shalini Kapoor Sagar on Typecasting, Digital Roles, and Break

After decades of working across television, films, and digital platforms, actress Shalini Kapoor Sagar continues to approach every role with the same passion and dedication that marked the beginning of her career. Known for shows like Qubool Hai, Devo Ke Dev Mahadev, Sirf Tum, and Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum, the actress says she remains deeply attached to every character she has portrayed.

Love for All Characters

"After working across all mediums, I can honestly say that I am in love with all my characters because I have given my 100% to each one of them," Shalini shares. "Whether it was Dilshad Ahmed Khan, Mata Prasuti, Mamta Oberoi, or Veena Sippy, every role has taught me something and remains special."

Typecasting and Digital Opportunities

Over the years, Shalini has often been associated with powerful and authoritative characters. She admits that typecasting is a reality actors frequently encounter. "I often get typecast. Whenever I get a call, the brief is usually that they want someone who looks elegant, rich, and commanding. I often get offered such roles," she says with a laugh. However, the rise of digital content and vertical storytelling platforms has opened new avenues for experimentation. "Thanks to verticals, I've been able to explore strong negative and grey-shaded characters. Playing these roles gives me immense satisfaction because they allow me to showcase different aspects of my craft," she says.

Taking a Break

Currently, she is taking a conscious pause from television and focusing on her well-being. "I'm happy exploring verticals and social media opportunities while also concentrating on my mental and physical health," she says. Though she is enjoying this phase, Shalini assures fans that her break is temporary. "I will definitely return. I'm simply waiting for a substantial role that excites me. As an actor, I believe reinvention never stops, and I'm always ready for the next challenge."

Staying Relevant

For Shalini, the secret to staying relevant is simple: evolve with time, embrace new opportunities, and always remain honest to the craft. "I have always tried to bring sincerity to every role. That's what keeps me motivated and excited about acting even today."
