It has been one year since the demise of businessman Sunjay Kapur, who passed away on June 12 last year. His wife, Priya Sachdev Kapur, paid an emotional tribute to him on social media, reflecting on the lasting impact he continues to have on their lives despite his physical absence.
Heartfelt In Memoriam Post
Priya shared a heartfelt in memoriam post featuring a photograph of Sunjay along with a moving message dedicated to his memory. She wrote, “A year without you. Still the first thought in the morning and the last thought at night.”
The tribute went on to celebrate Sunjay's spirit, achievements, and the values he left behind. “A year has passed since you left, yet your presence continues to guide us every single day. You never believed in standing still. You embraced life with energy, curiosity and conviction, inspiring those around you to dream bigger, work harder and give more of themselves,” she added.
The message further read, “You remain deeply loved and forever remembered in the values you lived by, the lives you touched and the love you gave so generously. Your love remains our strength. Your memory remains our blessing.”

Ongoing Legal Battle Over Estate
The tribute comes amid an ongoing legal battle between Priya Sachdev Kapur and Sunjay's mother, Rani Kapur, over his estimated Rs 30,000 crore estate. The dispute surfaced shortly after Sunjay's death and has continued over the past year.
Sunjay Kapur, who served as the chairman of auto components giant Sona Comstar and was previously married to actor Karisma Kapoor, passed away in London on June 12, 2025, while playing polo. He was 53 years old.
While early reports suggested he had suffered a cardiac arrest, other accounts speculated that anaphylactic shock may have played a role. His mother, Rani Kapur, had publicly expressed doubts about the circumstances surrounding his death and hinted at a possible “transnational conspiracy.” However, British medical authorities later concluded in August that Sunjay had died of natural causes.
The note co-signed by both Priya and Rani may suggest that they may have mutually resolved their disputes.

At the time of his death, Sunjay was married to Priya Sachdev Kapur. The couple tied the knot in 2017 and shared a son, Azarias Kapur. Together, they also raised Safira Chatwal, Priya's daughter from her previous marriage to American hotelier and actor Vikram Chatwal. Priya and Vikram ended their marriage in 2011. Sunjay was earlier married to Karisma Kapoor, and their divorce was finalized in 2016.
