One of the most endearing aspects of Aamir Khan Productions' recently released film Ek Din is the natural bond between Mira and Shruti, portrayed by actors Sai Pallavi and Pragati Mishra. For Pragati, who was last seen in Bhool Chuk Maaf, collaborating with Sai Pallavi proved to be both creatively enriching and personally comforting. The two first met during rehearsal sessions at Aamir Khan's residence, where the cast spent time reading scenes and familiarizing themselves with one another before filming commenced.
A Connection That Felt Instant
“It didn't feel like we were meeting for the first time,” Pragati recalls, adding, “We spoke about our families and lives, and the conversation flowed naturally. Sai has a very calming and grounded presence that instantly makes you feel comfortable.” Pragati notes that the team consciously encouraged the cast to spend time together during rehearsals and script readings, which helped build authentic chemistry on screen.
“As someone relatively new, it meant a lot to walk onto a set that felt warm and collaborative,” she says. “Sai was incredibly open and present in every interaction. There was never any sense of hierarchy — just two actors honestly trying to live the scene.” Although several moments between Mira and Shruti did not make it to the final cut, Pragati says the experience remains deeply special. “She was my first co-actor on screen, and that will always mean a lot to me.”
Learning from Sai Pallavi's Dedication
Pragati also shares that she learned a great deal from Sai's dedication to her craft. “Sai was simultaneously shooting for Ramayana and would often talk about her Hindi preparation and scene work for the film. Watching her approach taught me the importance of always remaining a student on a film set.” The young actor describes watching Sai Pallavi work as a learning experience in itself. “There's a sincerity in the way she approaches both people and performances,” Pragati says. “You don't feel like you're 'acting' with her. You simply respond naturally in the moment, and that made our scenes feel very lived-in.”
A Memorable Conversation
One of Pragati's fondest memories from the shoot came during a quiet break on set. “I remember talking to Sai in her vanity about Mansoor Sir's book One and how deeply it impacted me with its idea of oneness in the world,” she shares. “She then opened up about her own spiritual experiences. It was wonderful to see someone so accomplished remain so rooted in simplicity. That's something I'll always aspire to. She had also promised to recommend some spiritual books to me,” Pragati adds with a smile. “I need to ask her about them the next time we meet.”
For Pragati Mishra, Ek Din became more than just an important film — it was an experience shaped by warmth, trust, and meaningful collaboration. The film stars Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi in lead roles and is currently running in theatres.
