Television actor Parth Samthaan, currently starring in the show 'Sehar Hone Ko Hai', has been winning viewers' hearts with his intense portrayal of Mahid Niyazi. On the occasion of the show completing 100 episodes, the actor spoke exclusively to Times of India TV about the series, its Muslim backdrop, and maintaining work-life balance. He also addressed rumors about his involvement in the show 'Traitor'. (Photo: Instagram)
Our content is different—our world and even our language stand out
We are very happy. We feel truly blessed, and we worked very hard for this. Our content is different—our world and even our language stand out, which makes me very proud to be part of this show. The credit goes to the producer and the writer. I have worked with her earlier, so I had that trust. It felt like the right decision to come back to television with people I have worked with before and who have delivered good results. (Photo: Instagram)
The show is getting so much love—not just from our country but from audiences across the world
For me, it was important to give my 100% and trust them completely. And now, seeing the response, it feels worth it. The show is getting so much love—not just from our country but from audiences across the world—and that is truly overwhelming. (Photo: Instagram)
We never showed any religion as propaganda or tried to create controversy
Yes, there was always a risk that anything we say could become controversial. That’s why our focus stayed on emotions and the story. We never showed any religion as propaganda or tried to create controversy. That was never our intention. We focused on family and relationship emotions that people can relate to in every home. Even though the story, language, and world are different, that uniqueness has become our strength. (Photo: Instagram)
We all watch content from across the world, even Pakistani shows and we enjoy it
Very few shows like this are made, and we are glad it has been appreciated. Today, with OTT, we all watch content from across the world, even from across the border, Pakistani shows and we enjoy it honestly. I feel there are so many strong stories within the Muslim community that can be explored. Why not create shows with depth and real emotions from different communities? (Photo: Instagram)
I am a Hindu guy and I'm playing this character of Mahid
I’m grateful to be part of such a show because I’ve learned a lot. I’m not from that community, I am not a Muslim. I am a Hindu guy and I'm playing this character of Mahid but yes, there was so much for me to learn every day. It has been a learning experience every day on the sets, and I truly enjoy it. It gives me a sense of peace. (Photo: Instagram)
Parth on playing the intense role of Mahid
He isn’t someone you would call a typical ‘boy next door’ or someone you meet in everyday life. His values, style, look, aura, and thinking are all very different. That’s what stood out to me about the character. My focus was to do justice to it and bring to life what Richa has written so well. Even now, I’m learning something new from the character every day, and I’m really enjoying it. (Photo: Instagram)
On balancing TV, Bollywood and OTT
I’ve learned that everything depends on the situation you are in—what you’re going through in life and how you approach your work. Whatever you want to achieve, you have to take risks for it. For me, life has been a journey full of challenges and learning. I’ve gained a lot of experience, and I’m still learning every day. It’s important to keep exploring yourself. Whatever projects I take up, I give them my 100%. I’m very selective about my work—I don’t just take up anything. (Photo: Instagram)
Many people can multitask, but when I get into work, I tend to forget everything
I stay fully focused on whatever I’m doing. That’s just my nature. Even right now, while talking, my full attention is here. I believe in giving complete focus to one thing at a time. But sometimes, this also becomes a drawback. Many people can multitask and balance their lives well, but when I get into work, I tend to forget everything else, even my personal life. My mother reminds me that hey your mother is still alive. That’s something I still struggle with. (Photo: Instagram)
On rumours of doing Traitor
I would have loved to do the show, honestly. They had approached me and we even had a meeting, but it didn’t work out because of dates and budget. For now, I was interested in doing Khatron Ke Khiladi, especially since Colors feels like family. But the show requires around 40 days, and if I’m away for that long, it won’t be possible to manage my current commitments. (Photo: Instagram)
