Ludhiana Mayor Inderjit Kaur has been appointed as the state senior vice-president of the women wing of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). This significant appointment places her at the forefront of the party's efforts to engage and empower women across Punjab.
Mayor Expresses Gratitude
Thanking the party leadership for the responsibility, Inderjit Kaur said the appointment was a matter of honour and trust. She expressed gratitude to AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, state party in-charge Manish Sisodia, Punjab president Aman Arora and other senior leaders for reposing faith in her. The mayor emphasised that she would work tirelessly to uphold the confidence placed in her.
Commitment to Organisational Strengthening
The Mayor said she would work with dedication to strengthen the party’s organisational structure across the state and encourage greater participation of women in political and social activities. She added that she would continue to take the party’s policies and welfare initiatives to people across the state. Her strategy includes reaching out to women at the grassroots level, ensuring their voices are heard within the party framework, and promoting leadership opportunities for women in local governance.
Inderjit Kaur’s appointment is seen as a strategic move by AAP to bolster its women's wing ahead of upcoming elections. The party aims to leverage her experience as mayor to connect with urban women voters and address issues such as safety, healthcare, and education. Political analysts believe that her dual role as mayor and state vice-president will enable better coordination between municipal governance and party objectives.
Under her leadership, the AAP women’s wing is expected to launch several initiatives focused on skill development, legal awareness, and entrepreneurship for women. The mayor has already outlined plans to organise workshops and camps across districts to mobilise support and build a robust network of women leaders. With this appointment, AAP reinforces its commitment to gender equality and inclusive politics in Punjab.
