In a resurfaced video, actor Jackie Chan opened up about a memorable moment from his early career when he worked alongside martial arts legend Bruce Lee. He recalled an intense behind-the-scenes incident during a film shoot that left him injured but also well-compensated.
Intense Fight Scene Experience
Jackie Chan described how action sequences were filmed in long takes during that era, making timing and precision extremely important. He said, "When you say 'action', Bruce Lee used to forget who he was. Then I was behind the camera waiting for my timing. Waiting, waiting, waiting, because for one shot, it's not like it happens today with multiple cuts. It was shot in long takes. One hit, then I just saw all the stars because he really hit me. Boom, then I lied down, I never moved. Even though I was very hurt. Then I lie down, see Bruce Lee, then he just looked, turned around. As the director announced the cut, he just threw the stick and ran to me."
Bruce Lee's Immediate Reaction
Chan went on to describe Bruce Lee's concerned response after realizing what had happened. "He said, 'Oh, Jack, sorry, sorry.' After he grabbed me, I said, 'Oh, it hurts because when a stunt guy gets hurt, you get more money.' Then the same day, they did overtime, they needed another set of stunt guys to do it, then he said, 'Okay, Jackie, you stay.' I think at that time, he would do it on purpose, to let me make more money. In one day, I earned USD 250. That's a lot in those days. It was quite amazing," Chan added.
Rise of a Global Action Star
Over the years, Jackie Chan built a distinct identity in cinema, becoming known for blending action with comedy. On the professional front, he was last seen in The Shadow's Edge, where he plays a retired surveillance expert.
