Goethe-Zentrum Screens Sophie Scholl Biopic

Thiruvananthapuram: Goethe-Zentrum, in collaboration with Banner Film Society, will screen the award-winning German film Sophie Scholl: The Final Days (2005) at 6:30 pm on Wednesday. The screening will take place at the amphitheatre of Goethe-Zentrum in Jawahar Nagar, Kowdiar.

About the Film

Directed by Marc Rothemund and written by Fred Breinersdorfer, the biographical film portrays the final days of Sophie Scholl, a revered figure in the German resistance against Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime. Scholl was executed by the regime for distributing anti-Nazi leaflets at the university where she studied. The film was presented at the 55th Berlin International Film Festival in February 2005, where it won the Silver Bear awards for Best Director and Best Actress (Julia Jentsch).
