Four Arrested in Murder of Hyderabad Bodybuilding Influencer

Hyderabad: Four individuals, including the victim's brother-in-law, were arrested on Monday for their alleged involvement in the murder of 26-year-old influencer Masood Chandi in Kummarwadi last week. The deceased, identified as Shaik Mahboob, also known as Masood Chandi, worked as an electrician and resided in Kummarwadi, Golconda. He gained popularity on YouTube by posting bodybuilding videos, amassing over 2,500 followers.

Details of the Attack

Masood was brutally bludgeoned and stabbed to death at his residence on June 12 by a group of assailants. Following the incident, his father, Shaik Ismail, an auto driver, filed a complaint at Golconda police station, alleging that four attackers entered their home around 3 pm armed with an iron rod and a knife, launching a fatal assault on his son.

Family Dispute Leads to Tragedy

During the investigation, police identified the accused as Sk Zahed alias Sohail, the victim's brother-in-law and a student-cum-private worker; Zeeshan Nawab alias Jaber, 30, a milk vendor; Amer Nawab alias Laddu, 26, a construction worker; and their mother, Nafeez Sultana, 48, a catering worker, all residents of Kummarwadi. According to Syed Fayaz, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Tolichowki, Masood had married Sohail's sister, Rukshar Begum, in January 2025 against her family's wishes. In December 2025, Rukshar gave birth to a baby boy.

Days before the murder, Sohail visited Masood's home with family members and forcibly took Rukshar away after a heated argument on June 8. While leaving, Sohail declared he would not allow Rukshar to return to her husband and threatened to ensure a divorce. On April 12, Sohail, along with the other accused, arrived at Masood's house and attacked him with a rod, a knife, and a cricket bat. Masood collapsed on the spot from severe injuries and died. His father also sustained minor injuries to his right hand and cheek while attempting to save his son.

Legal Action and Arrests

Based on Ismail's complaint, a case was registered under sections 103(1) (Murder), 329(4) (Criminal trespass), 118 (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons), read with 3(5) (Common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act at Golconda Police Station. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested the four accused from Kummarwadi on Monday. They will be produced in court for judicial remand.
