Hollywood actress Evangeline Lilly, celebrated globally for her role as the Wasp in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has delivered a sobering health update to her fans. The star took to social media to reveal the severe and lasting impact of a head injury she suffered last year, disclosing a diagnosis of brain damage.
The Shocking Diagnosis and Health Update
In a recent video message, Evangeline Lilly connected with her followers to share news she described as "bad news about my concussion." She addressed the many questions surrounding her condition following a serious fall in May 2025. The actress disclosed that medical scans delivered alarming results. "The results came back from the scans, and almost every area in my brain is functioning at a decreased capacity," Lilly stated. She confirmed, "So I do have brain damage from the TBI (traumatic brain injury), and possibly other factors going on."
Lilly outlined her path forward, emphasizing her commitment to working closely with doctors on her recovery. She acknowledged the challenge ahead, stating that it is now her responsibility to get better, even though the process requires significant effort.
The Accident That Changed Everything
The incident occurred in May 2025 on a beach. Evangeline Lilly fainted and fell face-first into a giant boulder. At the time, she shared details via a blog, noting that medical personnel were more focused on determining the cause of her blackout than treating the facial wound. She recalled telling them with a woozy voice, "You won't find anything." The fall resulted in the traumatic brain injury she is now managing.
Finding a Silver Lining and a New Pace
Despite the grim diagnosis, the 'Lost' actress pointed to a positive change forced by her circumstances. She explained how the injury has compelled her to slow down. "My cognitive decline since I smashed my face open has helped me to slow down and helped me to have a more restful finish to my 2025," Lilly shared. She described her recent Christmas holiday as "the calmest, most restful" she's had in about 14 years, likely since becoming a mother.
Concluding her heartfelt update, Evangeline Lilly expressed feelings of gratitude and being blessed. The actress has not appeared in any new projects since 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania' in 2023 and had previously announced in 2024 her intention to step away from Hollywood for a period.
