Chirayu Rana's father, Chaitanya Rana, has reacted to the controversy surrounding his son and told the New York Post that he was not aware of the sexual abuse case that Chirayu brought against JPMorgan executive Lorna Hajdini.
In a surprising twist, the Post reported that Chirayu claimed in mid-December 2024 that his father had died and that he took time off from work to be with his family. However, sources cited by the Post indicated that Chirayu's father is alive and well. When reached by the Post, Chaitanya Rana stated, "I don't know anything about it. He didn't talk with us or anything. He's my son. He's a good guy."
Remote Work and Leave Abuse Allegations
The report painted Chirayu as a liar, alleging that he was allowed to work remotely after informing his seniors that his father was seriously ill. He then exhausted a string of leave allowances between early March and the end of May last year, when an initial draft complaint was sent to the bank's legal team, according to people familiar with the matter.
One source with direct knowledge of the complaint's contents said it read: "In or around November 2024, the plaintiff's father passed away, and he went to his parents' home in Virginia." The source added, "The company thought he was working through something. You can tell that he was trying to play the system."
Attorney Greg Chiarello prepared the May 2024 document, which also claimed that Chirayu's mother, Baruna, was sick.
Chirayu's Career Moves and Lawsuit
In late 2025, Chirayu left JPMorgan and joined investment firm Bregal Sagemount, but he left that job on April 2, 2026. Later that month, he filed a civil lawsuit in New York County Supreme Court under the pseudonym "John Doe," accusing executive director Lorna Hajdini, 37, of drugging him with Rohypnol and Viagra, coercing him into degrading sex acts, and threatening his career if he refused.
JPMorgan has disputed his claims and stated that Chirayu never reported to Hajdini.
