Hollywood actor and comedian Adam Sandler has opened up about his enduring marriage to wife Jackie Sandler, calling their meeting nothing short of "destiny." The star believes their love story would have unfolded regardless of his fame and successful career in the film industry.
A Fateful Meeting on the Set of 'Big Daddy'
The couple's journey began in 1999 when they met on the set of Sandler's film 'Big Daddy'. At the time, Jackie had a minor role in the movie. Despite the different trajectories of their careers at that moment, a connection was forged. The pair went on to tie the knot in 2003 and are now proud parents to two daughters: Sunny, 19, and Sadie, 16.
"Nothing Stops That": Sandler's Belief in Destiny
Speaking recently as he accepted the prestigious Chairman's Award at the 2026 Palm Springs International Film Festival, Sandler reflected on an alternate path his life could have taken. He humorously pondered what would have happened if his acting career hadn't taken off and he had instead joined his father's electrical business.
"I sometimes think about it, (if) I didn't click that year and I did go work for my dad, what my life would be right now," Sandler shared. He then made a heartfelt declaration: "First off, I'm thinking I'd probably still be married to my wife, Jackie. That's destiny. Nothing stops that."
In his signature comedic style, he added a caveat about their lifestyle, quipping, "But we definitely (would) have a different house. Probably, like, 10 less bathrooms and (fewer) statues of me."
More Thankful Than Ever for a "Phenomenal" Life
Sandler's comments about his marriage being destiny come alongside reflections on his overall gratitude. The star of 'The Wedding Singer' told People magazine that he is currently in a place of deep appreciation for both his personal and professional life.
"I'm just more thankful than I've ever been," he expressed. "Happy I got to do this life, happy all the people who've been with me during all this stuff, and helped me out, and (it's) just been a phenomenal time. My whole family's always been great to me. My wife and I talk about stuff, and what to do, and what to do next, and it's just been a very cool life."
He emphasized that the passage of time has only strengthened his bond with Jackie. "We're very close," Sandler said. "We like to talk, like to laugh, like to have fun, and like to think about things and take care of our kids." This glimpse into their private life reveals a partnership built on friendship, communication, and shared family values, proving that in Hollywood, some love stories are truly written in the stars.
