Dhurandhar's Box Office Slows: 63% Drop on Day 46, Aims for Rs 900 Cr Amid Border 2 Threat
Dhurandhar Sees 63% Drop, Eyes Rs 900 Cr Club

Ranveer Singh's period spy thriller Dhurandhar is showing clear signs of slowing down at the box office. On its 46th day in theaters, which was its seventh Monday, the film earned only Rs 1.40 crore. This marks its lowest single-day collection so far.

A Steep Decline in Earnings

The Monday figure represents a sharp 63% drop from Sunday's collection of Rs 3.75 crore. Just a day before, on Saturday, the film had earned Rs 3 crore. That was a 71% increase from Friday's Rs 1.75 crore, which itself was the previous lowest point.

Looking at the weekly trends, the decline becomes even more apparent. In its sixth week, Dhurandhar collected Rs 26.35 crore domestically. That was almost a 50% fall from the fifth week's Rs 51.25 crore. The fourth week had seen earnings of Rs 106.50 crore, showing how quickly the numbers have dwindled.

The Journey to Rs 900 Crore

According to Jio Studios, Dhurandhar has now earned Rs 878.75 crore in India after 46 days. The film is inching closer to the coveted Rs 900 crore club. To boost sales, the makers announced a special ticket price offer for Tuesday. Tickets were priced at just Rs 149 for that single day.

This move might help the film add a few more crores this week. However, it faces competition from the new release Happy Patel: Khatarnaak Jasoos. That film, starring Vir Das and Kavi Shastri, earned only Rs 40 lakh on its first Monday.

The Border 2 Challenge

The real test for Dhurandhar arrives this Friday with the release of Border 2. This sequel to the 1997 war drama Border features Sunny Deol returning to the franchise. New cast members include Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty.

Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 shares a similar patriotic theme with Dhurandhar. It also has the advantage of an extended weekend. Its first Monday is a holiday for Republic Day, which could boost its collections significantly.

Global Standing and Comparisons

At the worldwide box office, Dhurandhar has earned over Rs 1330 crore so far. This places it as the fourth highest-grossing Indian film ever. However, it still trails behind several big hits.

To reach the third spot, it needs to surpass Pushpa 2: The Rule, which earned Rs 1742.10 crore. The top two positions are held by Baahubali 2: The Conclusion at Rs 1788.06 crore and Dangal at Rs 2070.30 crore.

Despite the recent slowdown, Dhurandhar remains the highest-grossing Indian film at the domestic box office. Its journey toward Rs 900 crore continues, but the countdown to Border 2's release adds pressure. The coming days will determine if it can cross that milestone before the new competition takes over.
