They Fight: Andre Holland, Wendell Pierce Lead Boxing Drama Remake
They Fight: Cast, Plot Revealed for Boxing Drama

The world of cinema is gearing up for a powerful new entry in the sports drama genre. The upcoming film, 'They Fight,' has officially confirmed its star-studded cast, promising an inspiring story of redemption and resilience.

Star-Studded Cast for the Boxing Drama

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the lead roles will be portrayed by acclaimed actors Andre Holland of 'Moonlight' fame and Wendell Pierce, known for his work in 'Parker'. They will be joined by Samira Wiley, a standout from 'The Handmaid's Tale'.

The ensemble cast is further strengthened by the inclusion of Anthony B. Jenkins and Toussaint Francois Battiste, who will play the pivotal roles of best friends Peanut and Quincey. Their characters will battle it out in the boxing arena, striving to secure one of the coveted spots on the U.S. Junior Olympic Team.

Other talented actors confirmed for the project include Tinashe Kajese-Bolden, Mykelti Williamson, J. Alphonse Nicholson, Tory J. Malone, Amanda Warren, and Andre Royo.

The Creative Minds Behind The Film

Sheldon Candis is set to direct this much-anticipated project. Candis has also co-written the official script with Andrew Renzi, adding a layer of authenticity to the narrative. Renzi's involvement is particularly significant as he was the mastermind director behind the original 2018 documentary of the same name that this film is based on.

What is 'They Fight' All About?

This fiction film is a direct remake of the 2018 documentary. The story follows an ex-convict and coach, Walt Manigan, who will be played by Andre Holland. After being released from jail, Manigan returns home with the goal of setting his life straight and building a clean future with his partner, Ketta, a role that will be portrayed by Samira Wiley.

In his quest for stability, he joins a D.C. youth recreation center boxing gym that is on the verge of shutting down due to financial constraints and cost-cutting measures. In a desperate attempt to save the community space from closing, he begins coaching youth through an after-school boxing program. Wendell Pierce enters the story as Slim, another coach at the facility who takes on the role of mentoring Manigan on his new path.

This sets the stage for a compelling narrative about second chances, community, and the fighting spirit that defines the world of sports.
