Television actress Shilpa Shinde, widely recognized for her beloved portrayal of Angoori Bhabhi, has delighted fans by taking a nostalgic journey back in time. She recently shared a captivating video on social media where she channels the legendary Mumtaz, recreating the timeless charm of the classic song "Kanchi Re Kanchi Re" from the 1972 Bollywood film "Hare Rama Hare Krishna".
A Tribute to Bollywood's Golden Era
In the video, Shilpa Shinde is seen performing an interpretative dance, paying homage to the iconic number originally picturized on Mumtaz and Dev Anand. The song was composed by the legendary music director R.D. Burman, adding to its enduring appeal. The film "Hare Rama Hare Krishna" was directed by Dev Anand himself and also starred Zeenat Aman and Prem Chopra in lead roles. It tackled the decadence of the Hippie culture, delivering an anti-drug message while depicting some of the problems associated with Westernization. Interestingly, the idea for the film came to Dev Anand when he visited Kathmandu, Nepal, and encountered hippies living there.
Shilpa Shinde's Television Journey: From Debut to Stardom
Shilpa Shinde made her television debut in 2002 with the show "Amrapali," where she portrayed the titular role. She first came into the spotlight for her role in the serial "Bhabhi" and later starred in "Sanjeevani." Subsequently, she played a role in the show "Miss India." In January 2004, the actress took on the parallel lead as Meher in DD National's show "Meher – Kahani Haq Aur Haqeeqat Ki."
Her breakthrough role came as Koyal Narayan in the popular sitcom "Chidiya Ghar," opposite Paresh Ganatra. However, she quit the show in 2014 due to personal life issues and was replaced by Shubhangi Atre, who played the part for a year.

In 2015, Shilpa Shinde played the lead role in "Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai" and became a household name with her portrayal of Angoori Bhabhi. In 2017, Shinde participated in the reality show "Bigg Boss 11" and emerged as the winner, further cementing her popularity. Since December 2025, she has been playing the lead role of Angoori Manmohan Tiwari in "Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain 2.0," marking a triumphant return to the character that made her famous.
