Saswata Chatterjee has commenced shooting for the much-anticipated Sourav Ganguly biopic, tentatively titled 'Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story', in Mumbai. The veteran actor is portraying Chandi Ganguly, the father of the former Indian cricket captain. Joining him on set are Aparajita Auddy, who plays Sourav's mother Nirupa, and Rahul Dev Bose, essaying the role of his brother Snehasish Ganguly.
Shooting Details and Cast
According to a source close to the production unit, all three actors are currently filming in Mumbai. Notably, Sourav Ganguly himself was present on the set during the shoot on Sunday. The production team is scheduled to move to Kolkata for further shooting sessions at the end of this month.
The biopic, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, boasts an impressive ensemble cast. Tanya Maniktala has been finalized to play Dona Ganguly, Sourav's wife. As previously reported, Rajkummar Rao takes on the titular role of Sourav Ganguly. Before Tanya was confirmed, several prominent Bengali actresses, including Mimi Chakraborty, Ishaa Saha, and Amrita Chattopadhyay, were rumored to be in contention for the role of Dona.
