Bollywood Heavyweights Rally Behind Jailed Actor Rajpal Yadav
In a powerful display of industry solidarity, numerous Bollywood celebrities have stepped forward to support veteran actor Rajpal Yadav, who is currently serving a six-month imprisonment term. The movement gained momentum after actor Sonu Sood publicly urged fellow industry members to extend their assistance to Yadav during this challenging period.
Celebrity Support Floods In
Yadav's manager, Goldie, revealed to The Indian Express that several A-list stars have reached out to offer their support. "A lot of people have reached out to help Rajpal Yadav," Goldie confirmed. "Actors like Sonu Sood, Salman Khan, and Ajay Devgn have extended their support. I was just on a call with David Dhawan—he too reached out. Ratan Nain, Varun Dhawan… many people are coming forward to help him this time, which Rajpal has deeply appreciated."
The manager emphasized that while commitments have been made, practical assistance takes time to materialize. "Everyone has made commitments, but such transactions don’t happen overnight," Goldie noted, highlighting the complex nature of providing financial support in such situations.
Upcoming Bail Hearing
Rajpal Yadav's legal team has submitted a bail plea, with the hearing scheduled for tomorrow. The actor, best known for his memorable role in Bhool Bhulaiyaa, faces charges related to a cheque bounce case. His family remains hopeful for his imminent release, particularly with several family celebrations planned for later in February.
"Mentally, the family has to remain strong," Goldie stated. "Rajpal Bhai himself is very strong, and that strength runs in the family. There are also several celebrations lined up at home, with family functions scheduled later in February. Everyone wants Rajpal Bhai to be out by then. Hopefully, he should be out by tomorrow."
Industry Federation Joins the Cause
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has issued an official appeal to the entertainment industry to support Yadav. In their statement, FWICE called upon "all producers, directors, artists, technicians, associations, and well-wishers to extend their moral and financial support to help Shri Rajpal Yadav resolve his liabilities and regain his freedom, dignity, and peace of mind."
The federation has established a transparent mechanism for collecting support, stating: "Members and well-wishers willing to offer monetary assistance may contribute directly to Shri Rajpal Yadav or route their support through FWICE. The Federation assures complete transparency, and any funds received will be responsibly consolidated and handed over to assist him in settling his dues at the earliest."
Questions About Prior Assistance
When questioned about whether Yadav had sought help before surrendering himself to authorities, his manager declined to comment. "I would not like to comment on that," Goldie stated. However, he emphasized the positive aspect of the current situation: "The good thing is that after his situation worsened, the industry has stood behind him like a rock—and that should be appreciated."
This collective response from Bollywood's elite underscores the industry's capacity for unity during times of crisis, with established stars and industry organizations combining efforts to support one of their own through legal and financial challenges.
