Veteran Bollywood screenwriter Salim Khan, aged 90, was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai on Tuesday morning after experiencing a sudden health deterioration. According to hospital officials, he was brought in around 8:30 am by his family physician, Dr. Sandeep Chopra, following symptoms that prompted immediate medical attention.

Salim Khan was admitted under the care of Dr. Jalil D. Parkar, a pulmonologist in the Department of Chest Medicine. He was initially taken to the emergency department and later shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for close monitoring. Addressing the media on Wednesday, Dr. Parkar emphasized that contrary to sensational reports on some news channels, Khan was not in a critical condition.
"After assessing him in the casualty and administering medications, we determined ICU hospitalization was necessary due to jerks and high blood pressure, which we treated promptly," Dr. Parkar stated. He further explained that Khan was placed on a ventilator as a precautionary measure during investigations, but this did not indicate a life-threatening situation.
Dr. Parkar clarified that no surgical intervention was required. "There was no surgery performed. It was a standard procedure for such cases. The brain hemorrhage was very minimal and did not necessitate any surgical intervention," he added, reassuring the public about Khan's health status.

On Wednesday, Salim Khan underwent a Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) procedure, performed by neurosurgeon Dr. Nitin Dange. Dr. Parkar reported that the procedure was accomplished successfully, and Khan is now in a stable condition. "He is fine, stable, and being shifted back to the ICU. If all goes well, he is expected to be off the ventilator soon," he said, noting that age is a factor in the recovery process, which may take some time.
