Running Point Season 2 Dedicated to Niko Mijailovic

The second season of Kate Hudson and Brenda Song's sports comedy series Running Point premiered only a few days ago, and fans are already captivated. While the new episodes have garnered widespread praise on social media, viewers have been curious about the person to whom the season is dedicated.

Why Was Running Point Season 2 Dedicated to Niko Mijailovic?

The third episode of Running Point season 2 was dedicated to 15-year-old Niko Mijailovic, featuring a tribute card at the end that read, "In Loving Memory of #6 Niko Mijailovic."

Niko Mijailovic was a varsity volleyball player at a private school in Los Angeles. In April of the previous year, he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and passed away. After his death, his family revealed that the last show he watched was Running Point season 1, prompting the creators to honor him.

His older sister, Mila, shared on social media: "He was there for every single part of my volleyball career, always supporting me. As an athlete, he had a lot of drive and big goals. He wanted to play Division I volleyball one day. He was always a bright and happy person who made others feel comfortable and included. He was my number one supporter."

Running Point was not the only show to pay tribute. The cast of the medical drama The Pitt also posted photos holding a heart cutout with Niko's photo and name.

Plot of Running Point

Starring Kate Hudson, Running Point is a sports comedy series about a dysfunctional family. Hudson plays Isla Gordon, a reformed party girl who gets a chance to prove herself when her brother steps down as president of the family business and appoints her as his successor. Both seasons of Running Point are now streaming on Netflix.
