Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, the sister of Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor, is all set to make her acting debut with the upcoming film 'Daadi Ki Shaadi'. The movie, which also features Neetu Kapoor and Kapil Sharma, marks a significant milestone for the 45-year-old, making her the oldest member of the Kapoor family to step into acting for the first time.
Emotional Debut
Opening up about her debut, Riddhima expressed, "It truly feels surreal and deeply emotional. There's a sense of everything coming full circle… I know my father is always with me, blessing me in anything and everything that I choose to do. That thought gives me a lot of strength and comfort." She previously appeared on the reality show 'Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives'. The shoot also marked a personal milestone, as it was the first time since her father Rishi Kapoor's cancer treatment in New York that she had to leave her daughter behind in Delhi.
Challenges and Excitement
Reflecting on the experience, she said, "Honestly, the biggest challenge was stepping into an entirely new world at this stage of life. There's a certain vulnerability in starting fresh, but also a lot of excitement at the same time." Her reality show experience helped ease the transition. "Being in front of the camera for a show made me comfortable. It gave me a sense of ease and familiarity, which definitely made this transition smoother," she added.
Working with Neetu Kapoor
In 'Daadi Ki Shaadi', Neetu Kapoor plays Riddhima's on-screen mother. Riddhima described the experience as "incredibly special" and praised her mother's acting instincts. "I discovered how effortless and instinctive she is as an actor," she said. She also recalled her mother's advice: "Stay natural and don't overthink. Just feel the moment." This advice helped Riddhima ease into her performance.
Kapil Sharma's Recommendation
Interestingly, it was comedian Kapil Sharma who recommended Riddhima for the project. She shared, "I haven't really asked him why directly, but I think he saw a certain honesty or relatability in me. I'm just grateful he recommended my name." The film also stars Sarath Kumar and Sadia Khateeb, and is slated for a theatrical release on May 8.
Neetu Kapoor had also made brief appearances on the reality show, speaking about returning to work after Rishi Kapoor's passing. 'Daadi Ki Shaadi' promises to be a heartwarming family entertainer, with Riddhima's debut adding a layer of emotional significance.
