Raveena Tandon Champions Women's Rights at Jaipur's Shakti-Vandan Festival

On International Women's Day, Bollywood icon Raveena Tandon graced the Shakti-Vandan festival in Jaipur, an event that also commemorated the birth anniversary of the legendary Panna Dhai. Dressed in a vibrant green ensemble complemented by a traditional Rajasthani safa, the actress engaged in a profound dialogue with Dr. Somya Gurjar, the former Mayor of Jaipur Nagar Nigam (Greater). The conversation delved into critical themes of women empowerment, gender equality, feminism, personal challenges, and her illustrious career journey.

Equal Opportunities: A Foundation for Success

Raveena Tandon captivated the audience by initiating the interaction with a warm "Khamma Ghani Jaipur" and folded hands. She reflected on her upbringing, stating, "I consider myself fortunate to have been raised in a family where my brother and I were treated without any discrimination." She emphasized that a girl's growth is intrinsically linked to being granted equal rights, opportunities, and acknowledgment for her efforts. "Whatever I achieved in my professional career is a result of never having to retreat solely because I am a woman," she asserted, highlighting her resilience in the face of gender-based barriers.

Instilling Respect from Childhood

Addressing safety concerns and the pursuit of equality, Raveena underscored the importance of early education. "Teaching boys to respect the opposite gender must begin at home," she advised. She called for parents to nurture sensitivity and respect in boys towards their female peers in educational and professional settings. "We need to consistently reinforce these values in children from an early age," she added, stressing that such foundational lessons are crucial for fostering a more equitable society.

Women in Leadership: A Positive Shift

With her characteristic humor and wit, Raveena actively involved the female attendees, sharing fitness tips and encouraging them to prioritize their physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. When questioned about the representation of women in leadership roles globally, she noted a significant transformation. "The landscape was vastly different 15 years ago, but now we are witnessing rapid and positive changes," she observed. "Many major corporations are now led by women CEOs, not only in India but internationally as well." She also praised the contributions of women directors in Bollywood, who are effectively addressing women's issues through cinema.

The event served as a powerful platform for Raveena Tandon to advocate for gender parity, blending personal anecdotes with broader societal insights to inspire and empower women across generations.
