Ranveer Singh Sets Udaipur Wedding Stage on Fire
The luxurious wedding celebrations of US-based industrialist Raju Ramalinga Mantena's daughter Netra Mantena and Vamsi Gadiraju in Udaipur became the talk of Bollywood circles over the weekend. The high-profile event attracted numerous international celebrities and film industry stars, with Ranveer Singh emerging as the life of the party with his electrifying performances.
Videos circulating on social media showed Ranveer Singh in his element, performing his hit songs and getting other guests to join the dance floor. He particularly made Donald Trump Jr. and his girlfriend Bettina Anderson dance to "What Jhumka?" from his 2023 film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The energetic actor also had guests grooving to "Aankh Maarey" from Simmba and showcased his rapping skills with "Apna Time Aayega" from Gully Boy.
Ranbir Kapoor's Old Interview Creates Social Media Storm
As Ranveer Singh's wedding performance videos gained traction, an old interview of Ranbir Kapoor from 2011 curiously resurfaced across social media platforms. In his conversation with Times Now, the actor had expressed strong views about celebrities dancing at weddings for money, stating it wasn't aligned with his personal values.
"I wouldn't do it because of the family I come from," Ranbir had stated during the interview. He elaborated that while he respects others' choices, dancing at weddings for financial compensation didn't match the values he was raised with, being the great grandson of Prithviraj Kapoor, grandson of Raj Kapoor, and son of Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor.
The Dignity Debate Divides Bollywood Fans
The contrasting approaches of the two popular actors sparked intense discussions among netizens. Many users on platform X (formerly Twitter) began comparing the two stars' perspectives, with some supporting Ranbir Kapoor's stance while others praised Ranveer Singh's enthusiastic participation.
One viral tweet questioned, "What is Ranveer Singh, the Dhurandhar, doing here by sitting on floor, will people respect?" while referencing Ranbir's comment about maintaining dignity. However, it's worth noting that despite his earlier statements, Ranbir Kapoor was seen dancing at Anant Ambani's wedding last year alongside Shah Rukh Khan to popular tracks like "Chaiyya Chaiyya" and "Tauba Tauba."
In his original interview, Ranbir had emphasized that money wasn't his primary motivation as an actor. "I don't want to lose my dignity in my eyes dancing at a wedding, with people standing with a glass of alcohol and there could be snide comments," he had explained, while acknowledging it was a personal choice and he wasn't judging those who opted to perform.
