Bollywood Actor Rajpal Yadav Temporarily Released from Tihar Jail in Cheque Bounce Case
In a significant development, veteran Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav has been granted temporary release from Tihar Jail in connection with his ongoing cheque bounce case. The actor walked out of the prison on Tuesday, marking a brief respite in his legal troubles.
Rajpal Yadav's Statement to the Media
Following his release, Rajpal Yadav spoke with PTI, offering cautious remarks about his legal situation. "Whatever its legal aspects are, all legal matters are before the High Court. I respect every decision of the High Court very deeply, so I would not like to talk about it," he stated.
The actor also revealed personal commitments that are currently occupying his attention. "I don't want to talk for 2-3 days anyway because there is a wedding at home right now and I am busy with my niece's wedding for two days," he added, indicating a temporary media silence.
Upcoming Press Conference Announcement
Despite his immediate focus on family matters, Rajpal Yadav confirmed that he and his team will soon engage with the media more comprehensively. "Within the next few days, we will hold a press conference and answer all questions honestly," he declared.
He elaborated on the format, saying, "We will try to answer all the questions clearly in the form of a get-together or a press conference." The actor also expressed gratitude for the support he has received, noting, "I belong to Indian cinema. I am definitely a representative of Hindi cinema and I have had the privilege of love from all over the language movies."
Background of the Cheque Bounce Case
The legal case stems from a loan of Rs 5 crore that Rajpal Yadav took in 2010 to finance his film 'Ata Pata Laapata'. Over time, with accrued interest, the amount ballooned to approximately Rs 9 crore. The actor was previously convicted in this matter, and the sentence was later upheld by higher courts.
After failing to comply with court orders, Rajpal Yadav was directed to surrender. However, on February 15, Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma of the Delhi High Court suspended his six-month sentence until March 18, conditional upon him paying Rs 1.5 crore. As part of the release terms, he has surrendered his passport and is required to appear at the next hearing.
Rajpal Yadav's Professional Endeavors
On the professional front, Rajpal Yadav remains active in Bollywood. His most recent project includes involvement in the highly anticipated film 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3', showcasing his continued presence in the industry despite legal challenges.
The entertainment industry and fans alike are closely watching this case, as it highlights the intersection of legal accountability and celebrity life in India's film sector.
