Delhi High Court Grants Interim Bail to Rajpal Yadav in Rs 9 Crore Cheque Bounce Case

The Delhi High Court has granted interim bail to Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav until March 18 in the high-profile Rs 9 crore cheque bounce case. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma approved the relief, requiring Yadav to deposit Rs 1 lakh as a bail bond and furnish one surety. This decision came after the court earlier directed him to deposit Rs 1.5 crore by 3 PM for interim bail consideration.

Rajpal Yadav's First Statement After Release from Tihar Jail

Following his release from Tihar Jail, Rajpal Yadav issued his first public statement, expressing gratitude to the entire nation and members of Bollywood for their unwavering support during his legal battle. The actor emphasized that his case dates back to 2012 and confirmed he has consistently appeared before the High Court whenever directed.

"The way the entire country, the world, and Bollywood have loved me, if I face any allegations, I'm available to answer. Thank you, High Court, for giving me the opportunity to be heard," Yadav told media representatives.

Call for Designated Smoking Areas and Prison System Reforms

Speaking at his ancestral village in Shahjahanpur district, Rajpal Yadav made a compelling appeal for prison reforms, specifically advocating for designated smoking rooms within jail premises. "There should be designated smoking areas inside jails, similar to facilities at railway stations and airports," he stated, urging prison authorities to implement this change.

The actor elaborated on his vision for prison reform, asserting that correctional facilities should function as rehabilitation centers where inmates receive structured opportunities for positive transformation. He maintained that while the law remains supreme for those unwilling to reform, many prisoners deserve second chances.

Detailed Prison Reform Proposals and Observations

Rajpal Yadav shared insightful observations from his time in custody, highlighting systemic issues within the prison system. "I have an appeal. In our country, we don't know the difference between a prisoner and a respectable person. But I have noticed that jails need to be upgraded for today's time," he remarked.

The actor specifically addressed the situation of long-term inmates, noting: "There are prisoners who have already been convicted who don't need to go to court and have been there for 10 years due to a mistake they made. Their behaviour and conduct have been observed over time."

Drawing an innovative comparison with the popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati, Yadav proposed: "At least 10% of them, like how we have lifelines on Kaun Banega Crorepati, these prisoners deserve lifelines. If 10% of them are released and rehabilitated, they could be a strength for our country. And if they don't change, the law spares nobody."

Legal Proceedings and Future Court Dates

The court granted bail after the complainant's counsel, representing M/S Murli Project, confirmed that the Rs 1.5 crore amount had been deposited in the company's bank accounts against the bounced cheque. Rajpal Yadav will remain out of prison until March 18, the next scheduled hearing date. By that time, he is expected to repay the remaining due amount to avoid serving his sentence.

Regarding ongoing legal matters, Yadav clarified: "It is often difficult to judge from the outside who is a hardened criminal and who made a one-time mistake. My advocate Bhaskar Upadhyay will officially respond to all legal questions."

Media Engagement and Family Commitments

The actor announced he would not interact with the media for the next two days due to a family wedding commitment. He plans to address all media queries through a formal press conference at a later date. This announcement came as several Bollywood personalities, including Sonu Sood and Mika Singh, had shown their support for the actor during his legal challenges.

Rajpal Yadav's emotional brother expressed optimism about the future, stating "Achhe Din Aane Wale Hain" (Good days are coming), reflecting the family's relief at the court's decision and their hope for positive resolution of the ongoing case.
