Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu is diving deep into rigorous physical and martial arts training for what is being hailed as the most significant project of his career. The actor is preparing for his role in the upcoming mythological adventure thriller 'Varanasi', directed by the acclaimed filmmaker SS Rajamouli.

Embracing the Ancient Art of Kalaripayattu

As a crucial part of his character preparation, Mahesh Babu recently trained in the ancient Indian martial art of Kalaripayattu. His trainer, Hyderabad-based expert Hari Krish, shared his experience on social media, expressing immense pride. He posted a photo with the actor and wrote about the honour of training a global star, praising Mahesh Babu's inspiring lifestyle, aura, and hospitality.

Hari Krish also extended his gratitude to actor Nasser and director SS Rajamouli for facilitating and trusting in this unique training opportunity. This intensive preparation underscores the actor's commitment to authentically portraying his character, named Rudhra, in the grand-scale film.

Global Training and a Dream Project

Mahesh Babu's dedication to his role extends beyond India. Earlier in 2024, the actor traveled to Germany for specialized physical training under the guidance of Dr. Harry König, a renowned expert in naturopathic and sports medicine. This global training regimen highlights the demanding physical transformation required for the film.

During the grand Globetrotter event where the film's title and his character were unveiled, Mahesh Babu emotionally described 'Varanasi' as a 'dream project' and a 'once-in-a-lifetime' opportunity. He vowed to work as hard as possible to make his director, the film's team, and the entire nation of India proud upon the movie's release.

The Magnitude of 'Varanasi'

Helmed by the visionary director behind global blockbusters like 'RRR' and 'Baahubali', 'Varanasi' is poised to be a cinematic spectacle. The film is set to have a colossal budget of over Rs 1300 crore, making it one of the most expensive Indian productions ever.

The star-studded cast adds to its massive appeal. Alongside Mahesh Babu, the film will feature global icon Priyanka Chopra Jonas in the role of Mandakini. Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran is set to portray the main villain, Kumbha. This combination of a legendary director, a committed leading star, and a powerful supporting cast has generated unprecedented excitement for the mythological adventure thriller.

With Mahesh Babu leaving no stone unturned in his preparation, from mastering ancient combat in Hyderabad to undergoing advanced fitness regimes in Germany, 'Varanasi' is shaping up to be an epic that aims to captivate audiences worldwide and showcase Indian cinema on a monumental scale.
