The Madras High Court has dismissed an appeal against the release of the highly anticipated Tamil spy thriller 'Dhruva Natchathiram,' starring Vikram and directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon. This decision brings the long-delayed film one step closer to hitting the big screens.
Court Ruling Brings Relief
According to reports from Cinema Express, financiers Punniyamurthy and Premkumar had challenged an earlier order that permitted the makers to release the film by June 15. However, a division bench comprising Justices P. Velmurugan and Thilagavathi upheld the previous decision and rejected the appeal. This ruling has come as a major relief for director Gautham Vasudev Menon and the film's team, who have faced numerous hurdles over the years.
Extension Sought for Release
Although the court had initially allowed the film's release by June 15, the makers were unable to meet this deadline. Consequently, Gautham Vasudev Menon approached the court seeking an extension until July 15. The petition was heard by Justice K. Kumaresh Babu, who postponed the hearing to June 17. The court is now expected to decide whether additional time will be granted for the release of the much-awaited film.
A Decade-Long Journey
'Dhruva Natchathiram' has been one of Tamil cinema's most awaited films, with its teaser generating excitement among fans back in 2017 and 2018. However, the spy thriller faced multiple delays over the last decade due to financial issues. Even a planned release in November 2023 was called off at the last minute because of legal and financial hurdles. Since then, fans have eagerly awaited any update on the film's future.
Star-Studded Cast and Plot
The film features Vikram, Simran, and Ritu Varma in pivotal roles. Described as a cool and exciting action thriller, it has attracted millions of fans who are looking forward to watching it in theaters. With a production period spanning nearly ten years and several legal battles, the recent court ruling has given new hope that the movie will finally be screened on big screens. Fans of Vikram and Gautham Menon seem closer than ever to seeing the end of 'Dhruva Natchathiram's' journey.
