MM Keeravani Sets 2026 Timeline for 'Varanasi' Background Score Composition

Oscar-winning composer MM Keeravani, who captivated global audiences with the electrifying beats of 'Naatu Naatu' from 'RRR', is once again joining forces with visionary director SS Rajamouli. This time, he is crafting the musical landscape for the highly anticipated magnum opus 'Varanasi', starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran. In a recent update, Keeravani has provided clarity on the film's scoring schedule.

Background Score Work Slated for September 2026

According to a report by 123Telugu, MM Keeravani has disclosed that he will begin composing the background music for 'Varanasi' in September 2026. This timeline allows for meticulous preparation, ensuring the score complements the film's grand narrative. The composer's commitment to this project underscores the scale and ambition of Rajamouli's latest cinematic venture.

Six Songs Confirmed for the Epic Film

Earlier in November, while attending the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, Keeravani spoke with PTI and confirmed that 'Varanasi' will feature six songs. "They (fans) can expect grandeur; more than that, I'm not supposed to reveal. There will be six songs in the film," he stated. When asked about the pressure following the monumental success of 'Naatu Naatu', Keeravani expressed confidence, saying, "There is no pressure at all. When there’s clarity and conviction in any task you do, whether it’s a movie project or anything at all, pressure comes when there is confusion. To me, there’s no confusion."

With 'RRR', even the other side of the globe saw us. Now, as we explore the world, we are going to bring some of those fantasies and unique things from around the world to you through 'SSMB 29': 'Globetrotter'."
