The team behind the iconic film 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha' reunited on Monday evening to commemorate the 25th anniversary of its release. The event saw the film's lead stars, Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, along with director Anil Sharma, reflecting on the enduring legacy of the movie, which remains one of the most successful and beloved titles in Hindi cinema.
Sunny arrived in a casual shirt and jeans, while Ameesha dazzled in a golden lehenga. The stars posed together for photographs and were joined by other team members for group pictures. To mark the milestone, Sunny Deol cut a customized chocolate cake as the 'Gadar' team cheered him on.
Director Anil Sharma on 'Gadar 3'
During an interaction with the media at the event, director Anil Sharma was asked about the possibility of a third installment following the massive success of 'Gadar 2'. Confirming that discussions about a new chapter are ongoing, the filmmaker said, "The first part was a bomb, the second part was an atom bomb, the third part will be a nuclear bomb. The day I get that nuclear bomb, I'll ask these people to detonate."
In an interview, Sharma revealed that he is currently working on the film's script and is looking forward to beginning the shoot in 2027.
The Story of 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha'
Set against the backdrop of the Partition of India in 1947, 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha' follows Tara Singh, a Sikh truck driver played by Sunny Deol, who falls in love with and marries Sakina, portrayed by Ameesha Patel. Their lives are thrown into turmoil when Sakina is taken back to Pakistan by her family, prompting Tara's perilous journey across the border to reunite with his wife.
Apart from its memorable performances, 'Gadar' was also remembered for its chart-topping soundtrack composed by Uttam Singh.
Sequel Success
The 'Gadar' sequel, released in 2023, reunited Sunny Deol with Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma, who reprised their roles from the original film. The film went on to become the highest-earning film of the year.
